Dachshund (Standard) 4 years old, neutered, vaccinated and microchipped - up to date with flea and worming and will be homed with 4 weeks free Petplan insurance.
Duke is looking for a child and cat free experienced with the breed home.
He is dog friendly and has had no issues with visiting dogs to his previous home.
He loves to sleep under blankets , enjoys tug of war and has his favourite toys.
He is good on and off the lead and not particularly a puller.
He is protective of his owner and looks for reassurance/treat so does not always allow strangers to approach.
Duke has been very much loved and his routine diet reflects just how much.
He understands a few commands.
He gets startled by sudden movements and noises, hates delivery vans and the dustbin men, much prefers women to men and needs a time out with visitors to the home until he calms down and accepts they are in his house.
Being totally honest and transparent - reason for Dukes rehoming: family will no longer visit their parents who absolutely adore this dog as he has bitten an adult family member. I am told it was dark, Duke was sitting on owners lap travelling in a vehicle, daughter went to stroke Duke and he bit her arm. Duke had previously been fine with the visiting grandchildren aged 4-9yrs.
Dachshunds can be temperamental as can a lot of smaller dogs thinking they belong in a bigger body.
We have had no issues with Duke since he has been with us. I understand however he does need to be muzzled when visiting the vets as they do not offer him the time to adjust to the vet and surroundings.
If you feel you can offer the type of home Duke needs - quiet, calm and experienced, child and cat free I am sure he would love to meet you.

The dog is in Essex so you would need to be prepared to travel to the CM15 area.
